Carlos Romero Serrano is set to re‑join Villarreal CF after completing a two‑year loan spell at RCD Espanyol. The 22‑year‑old defender returns having established himself as one of the best players in his position in LaLiga.

Romero was born on 29 October 2001 in Torrent. The loan to Espanyol lasted two full seasons, during which he gained regular first‑team experience.

In a recent interview, Romero said he has “given everything for this shirt and this badge”. He added that helping Villarreal qualify for European competition in what could be his final match would be “the ultimate”.

The comments were made to Mundo Deportivo. Romero expressed confidence that his development during the loan will benefit the club.

Villarreal will count on Romero’s defensive solidity as they approach the season’s climax. His return adds depth to a side that has already shown strong performances in LaLiga.

Looking ahead, Romero hopes to contribute to the club’s push for a Europa League spot. His ambition aligns with Villarreal’s objectives for the upcoming fixtures.
